Saturday, October 24th, 2009Our October 27 class will focus on intellectual property (”IP”) is sports. A few points and reminders:
1. The lecture outline is posted on OnCourse.
2. Please read Indianapolis Colts v. Baltimore CFL Colts and Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders v. Pussycat Cinema. A link to the former is on this website. The latter is in the course casebook.
3. For Quiz #8, please bring the September 25, 2009 issue of Sports Litigation Alert. You will need it to answer the question posed in the quiz.
4. Your written case brief is due at the start of class. If you are unable to attend class, please put a copy in my mailbox (HPER #112). Please be cognizant of the requirements posted on OnCourse.

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009I just finished grading the mid-term exam. I will hand back copies at the start of class next week. The average score was 18 (out of 20). The high score was 20. The low score was 15.

Saturday, October 10th, 2009On October 27, 2009, we will be discussing sports-related intellectual property issues. There are two cases to read - Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders v. Pussycat Cinema and Indianapolis Colts v. Metro Baltimore Football Club. The Dallas Cowboys case is in the casebook. The Indianapolis Colts case is not in the casebook, but can be found here.
The intellectual property lecture notes are posted on OnCourse. After the lecture we will discuss both cases and then have Quiz #8. You will need the September 25, 2009 (Vol. 6, Issue 17) issue of Sports Litigation Alert for Quiz #8, so please make sure you have it with you. The written case briefs are also due (hard copy only).
